Pacquiao to fight again in November

Pacquiao to fight again in November
MANILA, Philippines – Barely minutes after Manny Pacquiao’s successful title defense against Shane Mosley, boxing promoter Bob Arum already started to map out plans for the Filipino superstar’s next bout.

“He will fight again in November,” the Top Rank promotions chief said after the fight.

The veteran fight promoter said Pacquiao is likely to have a third fight against long-time Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez, thereby confirming rumors of the long awaited trilogy between the two ring warriors.

“We have Marquez... he has a great fighting ability,” said Arum.

He, however, said that he’ll allow Pacquiao to savor his victory first before even opening talks about his next fight.

“We will discuss it next week,” said Arum.

The Filipino boxing superstar just outpaced the older Mosley in their 12-round welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao carved out a unanimous decision win over the slower American boxer to retain his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight crown.

According to Boxingscene.com, Arum is looking at a November 5 or November 12 fight date for Pacquiao-Marquez III.

Marquez, the WBO and World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion, first met Pacquiao in 2004. The fight ended in a controversial draw.

They fought again 4 years later. Pacquiao eked out a split decision to take away Marquez’s WBC super featherweight title.
