In Randy Couture's farewell fight, Machida faked a left kick and used a jumping right kick to the jaw of Couture to win by knockout.
Machida had certainly won the first round of the fight, eluding Couture all over the Octagon. Wherever Machida went, Couture followed, trying to get Machida into his dangerous clinch game.
But Machida settled in and toyed with Couture. Couture had been hit pretty good a few times before in the fight and just couldn’t pull off a farewell victory.
At the end of the fight Machida pulled Couture over and said how much of a legend, and a hero, Couture was for his career.
Couture to go out like that certainly is a horrible way to end an illustrious career. Couture was one of the greatest fighters of all-time. Just to see him eat “The Crane Kick” from the movie, “The Karate Kid”, just was a horrible ending to his career.
