Mosley will work his way out vs Pacquiao: analysts
MANILA, Philippines – Boxing analysts and bettors are getting more excited about the Manny Pacquiao and “Sugar” Shane Mosley bout, as the boxers’ much-anticipated welterweight showdown nears.

For some analysts, Mosley poses a threat to Pacquiao with his speed, power, and stamina.

Experts believe that Mosley proved his edge in both his matches against Oscar dela Hoya.

"Malakas ang kanan niya... Maganda talaga 'yung laban niya, it was a close fight. De la Hoya was also at his prime. Pero 'yung last two rounds, panalo si Mosley. That's why he won the round in a split decision," Ronnie Nathanielsz said of Mosley’s split-decision victory against the "Golden Boy" in 2000.

"At that time, he (Mosley) was capable of coming in strong in the last 2 rounds. 'Yun ang importante," he added.

Mosley also conquered dela Hoya in a rematch via unanimous decision in 2003.

For analyst Ed Tolentino, the 39-year-old Mosley still has the goods despite his age.

The American showed this in his previous fights, particularly the ones where he had faced Antonio Margarito, in 2009, and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., in 2010.

"Kay Margarito, pinakita ni Shane Mosley na meron pa siyang power that if you trade with him, if you stand with him, he will put you down," Tolentino said of Mosley's 9th round stoppage win over the Mexican.

For both Nathanielsz and Tolentino, Mosley will also attempt to earn himself a career-defining win, apart from the $5 million purse.

"He will give it all, no question about it. He will give it all because if by some miracle, he beats Pacquiao, a whole new world opens up. And that's what every fighter wants," Nathanielsz said.

"Shane Mosley is a ring general, a battered ring general looking for a hefty pabaon. 'Makakalimutan ng tao ang talo ko kay Mayweather if I beat Manny Pacquiao," Tolentino added.

Mosley is considerably the most intelligent boxer Pacquiao will ever clash with, both analysts affirmed.

Pacquiao should never be too overconfident, they added. – With a report from TJ Manotoc, ABS-CBN News
