“I think we all know that Marquez has heart, and of all things, he has balls,” Ariza, who has been part of Pacquiao’s team since 2008, told Boxingscene.com.
The 8-division champion Pacquiao recently agreed to a third fight against his Mexican rival at a 144-pound catch weight. The bout will take place on November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Ariza said the Filipino champion is looking forward to a rematch against Marquez.
“I know Manny is [excited]. I think it's the kind of fight that most people are going to want to see,” he said.
Pacquiao and Marquez have fought twice.
In 2004, despite suffering 3 first-round knockdowns in the hands of the Filipino champion, Marquez rallied in the latter rounds to secure a controversial draw against Pacquiao.
Four years later, Pacquiao floored the counter-punching Mexican in the third round en route to a split-decision win.
Ariza said Marquez should prepare himself for a more improved Pacquiao on November 12.
“I think that Manny's a completely different fighter and athlete now than he was back when he fought Marquez at 130 [pounds],” he said.
Ariza, however, sees a tenacious Marquez showcasing his Mexican warrior spirit against the more popular Filipino boxer.
“He's not going to run anywhere and when push comes to shove, he's going to hold his ground and go right at Manny as well," he said.
